Mariah Halstead joined our team bringing her extensive tax background from her many years of experience from a large public accounting firm. While she focused heavily in the in the high-net-worth sector, she also has worked a great deal with a variety of companies, ranging from small entrepreneurial ventures to large enterprises in the healthcare, real estate, oil & gas, and professional services industries.

Mariah is a Texas licensed Certified Public Accountant and graduated magna cum laude with a BBA in Accounting and Master of Science in Taxation. Outside of the exciting world of tax, she enjoys surfing at the lake, snowboarding, and traveling with her husband. When they are not at the lake with their two pups or traveling to the next destination, Mariah enjoys doing what she feels is her purpose in life, servicing her clients in the areas of finance and tax.

Fun fact about yourself:

My husband and I average over 48,000 miles of flight time a year. That’s nearly two times around the world… we fly a lot.

What is your favorite part about your job?

When clients show their appreciation for the work that you do. After all, they put a lot of trust in you on their finances which is very personal so when a client expresses their gratitude and trust in you, it’s the best feeling.

What did you want to be when you were young?

Very early on, I knew I wanted to be an accountant. At one point, I wanted to be a judge… until I found out I would have to become an attorney first. Despite my husband’s thoughts that I’d make an excellent attorney… I’m happy with my choice.

What are you passionate about outside of accounting?

Pretty much any extreme board sport… and aviation. It’s difficult to get my husband to want to sit and talk about tax law. I don’t think he finds it as exciting as I do.
